AudioFit Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 5, 2026

The short version

AudioFit extracts the audio track out of your videos entirely on your device. Your files are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored anywhere. We collect no personal data.

Your files

All processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your videos never leave your computer. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and AudioFit keeps working.

Data collection

The AudioFit browser extension collects nothing: no analytics, no telemetry, no cookies, no account. The extension requests only the "storage" permission, used to remember your theme choice and (if you buy Pro) your license key — both kept in your browser's local storage. It requests no access to the pages you visit. If we ever add privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to the website version, they will never include your files or any personal data, and this policy will be updated first.

Pro licenses

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy (their privacy policy applies to checkout). Keys bought through Lemon Squeezy are checked once, with Lemon Squeezy, when you enter them; that request contains only the key. Older bundle keys (they start with FIT1) are checked on your device, with no request. After that, the key is kept only in your browser's local storage and isn't checked again.

Open-source licenses

AudioFit's MP3 export is powered by lamejs (the LAME MP3 encoder ported to JavaScript, distributed as the @breezystack/lamejs package), which is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 (LGPL-3.0). It's included as a separate, self-contained module that's loaded on demand and unmodified from upstream; its source and license are available at the link above. AudioFit also uses mp4box.js (BSD-3-Clause) for the lossless AAC-to-M4A passthrough, and libflac.js (BSD/MIT) for FLAC export. AudioFit's own code is MIT-licensed.
